Scots dad sets table on fire in hilarious bank holiday barbecue fail

A dopey Scots dad set table ablaze in a hilarious BBQ fail during the bank holiday weekend.

Robert Cameron was cooking up burgers and sausages for his wife and son at their Glasgow home as the mercury hit 20C on Sunday afternoon.

But as their dinner sizzled the flames from the disposable BBQ quickly reached heights and set the wooden pasting table alight.

In the video, Robert's wife and son can be heard giggling as he attempts to control the flames by waving a tea towel.

His efforts are no match for the fire as the flames spread, burning a hole through the centre of the table.

Robert's son Grant told the Record: "We didn’t have bbq so decided to go buy a wee disposable makeshift one.

"Everything started off fine but after a while we noticed there was a lot of smoke.

"At first we didn’t think anything of it, and that’s when the flames started.

"My mum and dad began to panic as I sat there and laughed.

"He began to hit the flames with the towel but that just made it worse."

In the video wife Marie can be heard saying: "Oh for goodness sake Robert", while Grant remains in an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

As the flames grow, Marie suggests: "Should I get some water?"

But Grant replies: "No, get a damp cloth."

Robert tries his best to salvage the dinner but admits defeat and frantically grabs what is left of his chicken and burgers and pulls them to safety.

Grant said: "Eventually smoke had filled up the entire garden we all started coughing.

"That’s when we decided to get the hose. But before that I said that my dad had to save the chicken, I was hungry and that was the priority.

"Once the chicken was moved to safety I used the hose on the fire. Eventually when we put it out we discovered that it actually burned through the table we had it on."

The family still managed to eat their tea after all the commotion, but the wooden table sadly didn't pull through.

It won't be used as part of any future barbecues in the Cameron household.
