Scots cyclist seriously injured after narrowly avoiding crash with car

A cyclist was seriously injured in an accident on Tuesday after a car nearly crashed into him.

Around 5.30pm, on Greenock Road, Bishopton, a 50-year-old male cyclist had to take evasive action when the driver of a Volkswagen Golf allegedly failed to see him turning into a junction.

While trying to avoid a collision the cyclist struck a parked vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

A 47-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and is suspected to have been under the influence of an illegal substance at the time.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to get in touch on 101, quoting incident number 2572 20th April 2021.
