Scots cops appeal for info after man, 85, seriously injured in roundabout smash

Police in Tayside are appealing for information after an 85-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a roundabout crash near Dundee.

The man was at the wheel of a silver Hyundai ix20 hatchback when he crashed at the Ethiebeaton Roundabout in Monifieth at around 7.30pm on Saturday September 17. Officers say he was badly hurt in the incident.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where his condition is described as serious. No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which closed part of the roundabout on Saturday night.

Following the incident road policing cops have issued a public appeal for eyewitnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward so officers can ascertain the full circumstances of the collision.

The crash took place beside a busy retail park that contains a McDonalds and a Costa Coffee, among other businesses.

Sergeant Steve Livesey, of Police Scotland's Tayside Road Policing Unit, said: "We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are keen to trace any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash.

“If you have any information or dash cam footage that may assist officers with their investigation, please call police via 101, quoting reference number 3191 of Saturday, 17 September, 2022.”
