Scots Aldi shoppers queue in the dark to get hands on Prime Energy drink

Hundreds of shoppers queued outside Scots Aldi stores to get their hands on the viral £1.99 Prime Energy drink. The sports drink, created by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, has seen huge demand across the UK since its launch earlier this year.

The juice has been flying off the shelves, with some single bottles even being resold for over £10. Aldi announced they would be stocking the drink for a limited time only in an exclusive deal.

Photographs shared on social media show Scots shoppers queueing in the dark outside Aldi stores in Govan and Airdrie before doors opened on Thursday morning. Stock of the drink sold out at other branches in Paisley, Govan Bellshill and Aberdeen.

Sharing a photo of a queue in Paisley, one user said: "Queue at Aldi Paisley @prime_tracker shop staff have us well organised." They later added: "3 bottles of Prime from Aldi Paisley. 1 happy kid. @prime_tracker. Can't praise the staff there enough, no hassle getting at all."

Prime Energy is marketed as a low calorie hydration drink that contains no added sugar. It is mostly made up of water, coconut water, vitamins and minerals. It comes in a wide variety of flavours but is not an energy drink as it does not contain caffeine.

The drink was only available at Asda with a limit of up to three bottles per customer when it went on sale in October.

While Prime is seen as a better alternative to other hydration drinks as it has no added sugar, it does contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives.

YouTube stars and former boxing rivals KSI and Logan Paul say on the official website that they came together “to create a fantastic hydration drink that can fuel any lifestyle”.
