Scotrail update commuters on Edinburgh to Glasgow disruption

Scotrail have warned those planning on travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts to expect disruption and to plan ahead using their journey planner.

Important engineering works are believed to be taking place from Livingston South and Holytown, closing all of the lines in the process.

They say that the Edinburgh to Glasgow Central via Shotts service will be cancelled as a result and will not run.

However, there will be replacement buses in place in order to take passengers between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central.

It is understood that other services between Edinburgh and Glasgow will continue to run and that anyone wishing to plan their journey should do so by using the National Rail enquiries journey planner.

One Twitter user who had an anniversary dinner planned in Edinburgh expressed their displeasure at the disruption by saying: “What an absolute joke ScotRail are……no trains on a Sunday to Edinburgh for the last year due to ‘industrial action’ and now this today when you’ve planned your anniversary dinner.”

An update on their website said: “October 2 - Engineering work is taking place between Livingston South and Holytown, closing all lines.

“Trains that usually run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts will be cancelled, and will not run.

“Replacement buses will run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Shotts.

“You can plan your journey using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner.

“Although journey planners are showing correctly, your journey may be subject to alteration at short notice due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Please check before your journey.
