ScotRail to slash all off-peak tickets by 50 per cent until May 15

ScotRail have introduced a ‘Yours to Use’ initiative - which is funded by the Scottish Government and will offer customers a 50 per cent discount on off-peak tickets this week.

The initiative focuses on bringing customers back to the rail operator as Covid-19 lockdown restrictions continue to be lifted.

While the discounted tickets are only available this week, you can book your trip up until May, 31 2022.

The price slash is only available on valid routes, which you can find on the ScotRail website. In order to receive the discount, tickets will have to be bought ahead of travel.

Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth MSP said “The Scottish Government understands that people are struggling right now and that the costs of travelling have risen sharply.

"We want to show people that travelling by train might offer an alternative. Clearly there is more to do to make rail travel more affordable all year round and our fair fares review will look at the cost of travelling on all modes of public transport."

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said “This fantastic offer will mean more people can get out and enjoy Scotland throughout the month of May, whether for a day out or a holiday, so make sure you buy your tickets before 15 May.

Adding that "it is an absolute priority for ScotRail to do everything we can to attract customers to Scotland’s Railway."

This offer comes amid disruptions that are ongoing - caused by a pay row with train drivers union, ASLEF.

Drivers are not working overtime, which is currently vital for ScotRail to operate due to shortages caused by delayed training during the pandemic.

The Transport Minister has said that she understands the importance of working with unions saying that she wants "the public, staff and our Trade Union partners to be part of that future vision.

"Public ownership should mean railways that work for the people and deliver for our communities and this Government remains committed to doing just that, working in partnership with ScotRail.”

You can get your discounted off-peak tickets on the ScotRail website, on the app with promo code SRSALE, or by phone on 0344 811 0153.
