SCOTRAIL is undertaking engineering works this weekend with disruption expected across the network, including on Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling routes.
Engineering works will be taking place this weekend (Saturday 30 and Sunday 31) between Linlithgow and Stirling as well as between Carlisle and Gretna Green.
Buses will replace trains on some routes.
ScotRail engineering work which will affect routes between:
- Edinburgh and Stirling/Perth/Dunblane/Inverness
- Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston
On Sunday, August 31 only, buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Dumfries.
The last journey from Carlisle to Glasgow will depart Carlisle at 18:33 as a replacement bus service to Dumfries, where customers can change onto the 19:50 train service to Glasgow Central.
The train operator added: "Check our app/website for journey information and details of replacement transport on these routes. Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey."

Saturday
Edinburgh – Stirling / Dunblane:
- Trains will operate between Edinburgh and Linlithgow.
- Buses replace trains between Linlithgow and Stirling / Dunblane.
Edinburgh – Inverness:
- Train services will be diverted via Ladybank and will not call at Stirling. Alternative train services will operate between Stirling and Perth.
- If you are travelling between Edinburgh and Stirling, you should use replacement buses between Linlithgow and Stirling to connect with train services to / from Edinburgh.
Glasgow Queen Street – Falkirk Grahamston:
- Buses replace trains between Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston, calling at Camelon.
Sunday:
Edinburgh – Dunblane / Perth:
- Trains will operate between Edinburgh and Linlithgow.
- Buses replace trains between Linlithgow and Dunblane / Perth.
Edinburgh – Inverness:
- Train services will be diverted via Ladybank and will not call at Stirling. Alternative train services will operate between Stirling and Perth.
- If you are travelling between Edinburgh and Stirling, you should use replacement buses between Linlithgow and Stirling to connect with train services to / from Edinburgh.
