SCOTLAND is heading to the biggest football party on the planet and supporters can be part of the excitement through a new visualised podcast.
The playful and passionate look at the World Cup, hosted by Calum Maclean and Hannah McKirdy, will be packed with football chat, nostalgia, bold predictions and plenty of World Cup mayhem.
TADHAL will follow Scotland’s journey with the presenters and guests reacting to the latest stories, biggest talking points and unforgettable moments from across the tournament – alongside the emotional chaos that comes with watching Scotland on the world stage.
The series will blend football discussion with the wider culture and madness that surrounds a World Cup. From the songs, social media moments and travelling support to the atmosphere in bars at 4am and the daft conversations only football seems to create, TADHAL will capture the shared experience of following Scotland at a major tournament for the first time in a generation.
Each episode will feature a mix of guests from across football, entertainment and social media, with familiar faces joining Maclean and McKirdy throughout the tournament.
Tartan Army member Seona McClintock, who is lucky enough to have tickets to the Haiti and Brazil games, will bring the atmosphere from across the World Cup host cities.
Alongside match reaction and football debate, the series will feature returning items and recurring challenges throughout the tournament, including Beachd a’ Choin, where Maclean’s dog Somhairle attempts to predict World Cup results, competitive keepy-uppy challenges and McKirdy’s Red/Yellow/No Foul feature with guests.
The series aims to appeal both to diehard football supporters and audiences drawn to the humour, personality and collective experience that surrounds major sporting events.
Maclean said: “I genuinely still can’t quite believe Scotland are going to a World Cup, so this series is really about enjoying every second of it. Obviously, there’ll be loads of football chat, but we also want to capture all the brilliant nonsense around these tournaments too – the songs, the online stuff, the late nights, the hope, the heartbreak and the feeling that absolutely anything might happen.”
McKirdy added: “I’m football daft anyway, so getting to do this during a Scotland World Cup is honestly a dream. We want TADHAL to feel like the conversation everyone is having with their pals throughout the tournament. There’ll be proper football discussion, but also loads of humour, nostalgia and those ridiculous moments that people end up remembering long after the football finishes.”
All episodes will be available on BBC Sounds and in visualised form, with every episode available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC ALBA YouTube channel throughout the tournament
