Scotland weather to sizzle as temperatures soar to 24C after washout weekend

Scots have endured another washout weekend but are set to enjoy soaring highs of 24 degrees next week in Scotland.

Following an overcast week with downpours in parts of the country on Saturday, the weather is set to brighten up heading into Monday.

The Record reported how Scots could expect highs of 23C in Glasgow by next Tuesday, while Edinburgh would see temperatures reach 19 degrees and Aberdeen would be cooler at 17C.

But it's set to get even hotter than was initially forecast, with Glaswegians basking in 24 degrees by mid-week on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, the temperature in Edinburgh will peak on Tuesday with 21C and the mercury will rise to 18C in Aberdeen and Stornoway.

In the latest forecast for Scotland, the Met Office said: "It's an improving picture as we head into Sunday with drier and brighter weather from any.

"Rain is continuing to push east with a yellow rain warning in some areas. There's clear spells following on in the West, with few Isolated showers.

"Temperatures overnight stays pretty much in double figures, especially areas stuck under that cloud, with overnight lows of around 13 or 14 degrees.

"Into Sunday, any rain over the east will very quickly clear leaving the whole of the country very cloudy with maybe a bit of brightness in the far west.

"Some of that cloud might be thick enough to produce a few light outbreaks of rain and drizzle during the course of the afternoon and temperatures, a touch up on Saturday, with highs around 23 degrees.

"Into Sunday any showers gradually sort of faded, with those clouds starting to actually break up from the West and a few clear spells developing by midnight.

"Moving into the outlook period it's great news because it's coming settled as high pressure builds in from the north, so sunny spells developing in the next week, although with a northerly wind and rather cool in the east."
