Billy Gilmour soaked up a hero’s welcome in Miami as the injured Scotland midfielder threw the ceremonial first pitch in front of thousands of Tartan Army fans.
The Napoli star, still wearing a brace on his right knee as he continues his recovery, stepped out at LoanDepot Park ahead of the Miami Marlins’ clash with the Texas Rangers.

Gilmour drew huge cheers from the travelling support, who had earlier marched through the city in force as Scotland gear up for their World Cup showdown with Brazil.
The baseball crowd was transformed by the presence of the Scots, with Marlins pitcher Tyler Phillips blown away by the atmosphere generated inside the stadium. He said: “Scotland, the Tartan Army, if it was up to me I would be paying those people to show up to the games.
