Scotland's priciest and cheapest cities for home insurance

Glasgow is the most expensive place in Scotland to insure your home, according to a study by MoneySuperMarket.

Scotland's largest city comes in at an average buildings and contents premium of £145.33 a year, ahead of Edinburgh at£142.31.

But Dundee ranked sixth cheapest in the UK with an annual average premium of £121.91.

Glasgow was £7.33 more expensive than the UK average of £138 but ranked only 40th out of 125 cities. Scottish cities ranked as follows:

  • Glasgow – £145.33
  • Edinburgh – £142.31 
  • Perth - £135.52
  • Falkirk – £134.50
  • Inverness – £ 128.46
  • Aberdeen – £127.72
  • Dundee – £121.91

According to the MoneySuperMarket home insurance index , Durham was the cheapest place to insure a home at £117. London and Guernsey had the most expensive postcodes, with NW the highest at £251. London postcodes took the top 13 spots, while Guernsey was next at £183.
