Scotland's hottest ever Easter Sunday temperature was recorded in Edinburgh yesterday – and the brilliant weather is set to continue.
The mercury hit 23.4C at the Royal Botanic Gardens on Sunday afternoon, well clear of the previous best of 20.7C recorded in Aberdeenshire four years ago.
The capital's brilliant Easter Sunday weather was still short of the UK record though, which was set at 25.3C near Southampton in 2011.
The Met Office say that temperatures should once more top 20C in Edinburgh this afternoon with the best conditions expected around 2pm or 3pm.
Forecaster Marco Petagna said: "We have got high pressure moving at the moment giving most of the UK a lot of fine weather, this combined with the fact that the high pressure has dominated for the past few days is allowing the temperatures and heat to build."
This is in stark contrast to the weather being experienced in Spain and the Mediterranean at the moment, with heavy downpours continuing today.
