Scotland's Euro 2020 chances dismissed as Serbia striker launches astonishing 'no problem' blast

Cocky Serbia star Djordje Despotovic has fired an astonishingly arrogant dismissal of Scotland's Euro 2020 qualification chances.

The Rubin Kazan star claims his side will be heading for the international tournament in the summer "for sure" as he brushed off the suggestion Steve Clarke 's side posed a threat.

And the confident 28-year-old even went as far to say the Serbs would take care of the one-off tie if it was at Hampden.

Serbia manager Ljubisa Tumbakovic has been at pains to talk up Scotland's strengths and has warned his players not to underestimate the opposition.

But that message appears to have been lost on new Serbian call-up Despotovic, after he completely wrote off Scotland's chances.

He said: "Scotland will be no problem. We are going through. I know this for sure.

"I've watched Scotland play and I am really not worried about them at all. I know we have better players than them.

"We were underestimated by Norway and Erling Haaland and their team which was full of cocky kids.

"And I understand that what I am saying about Scotland sounds like that too and could be viewed as arrogant.

"But I really believe we will beat Scotland. We have a better team, we are more experienced than them.

"Even if we were playing the game in Glasgow, instead of Belgrade, I would be equally optimistic."

Former Red Star Belgrade hitman Despotovic is the Russian League's top scorer this season after his summer transfer from Orenburg.

And he's convinced he can make an impact if he's handed his debut against the Scots next week.

He said: "If the manager decides to play me, I will be ready.

"It certainly means everything to me to be a part of the national team.

"I'm playing well in Russia and really enjoying my football at the moment. Playing for Serbia and helping us to qualify would be perfect for me."
