Scotland's beautiful beaches recognised in Blue Flag awards - see the full list

With the hotter weather (hopefully) on the way with summer arriving, it'll soon be time to soak up rays on the beach.

And Scotland has no less than 48 beaches in this year's Blue Flag awards, meaning you'll be spoiled for choice.

The Blue Flag is a world-renowned eco-label owned by the Foundation for Environmental Education that rewards beaches for factors such as water quality, cleanliness, safety and available facilities.

The flag scheme ensures any of the accredited beaches you travel to will be in the best possible condition for visitors.

A post on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website reads: "Scotland’s 11,800km coastline boasts an impressive mix of stunning rural beaches, great for wildlife watching, to busy recreational beaches, great for enjoying a day out with the family. Whatever you enjoy, there's an awarded beach for you".

Included on the prestigious list is popular beaches like Coldingham Bay, East Dunbar, Lunan Bay and Sango Bay, alongside some lesser-known gems like Sands of Breckon, Roome Bay Crail and Aberdour-Silver Sands.
