Scotland has recorded 22 new Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours while cases increased by 6,815 overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 8,232.
10,612 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are currently 977 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 82 being treated in intensive care.
To date 4,135,329 people have received their first vaccination with 3,762,367 having a second jab.
It comes as a mass coronavirus vaccine booster campaign may not be needed according one of the leading figures in the development of the Oxford AstraZeneca jab.
Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert said immunity is "lasting well" for most people and suggested extra doses should be directed to countries with a low rate of vaccination.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said he expects a booster programme to start later in September but he is still awaiting advice from experts on the scale of any campaign to offer extra shots to people.
