Scotland Love Island viewers slam contestant for 'slandering' country

A Love Island contestant has been slammed by Scottish viewers for a comment he made on Monday night's episode.

The episode saw the dramatic reintroduction of former contestant Adam Collard, who last appeared on the show back in 2018. The bombshell spent much of the episode getting to know Paige Thorne, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, and Gemma Owen.

It set the stage for a dramatic episode on Tuesday, with the boys in the villa coming back from their spa retreat to find the newbie chatting up their partners. People watching in Scotland could only talk about one moment of the episode, however.

Edinburgh lad Jay Younger was booted out of the villa alongside partner Chyna Mills after their fellow islanders had to decide whether to save them or Dami Hope and Summer Botwe. It was a comment that Luca Bish made as they said their goodbyes that had viewers talking.

When Jay told the rest of the lads that he would see them on the outside after the show was finished, the fishmonger told him: "I'm not coming to Scotland though. You can come to us."

The offhand remark drew a lot of criticism from Scots, who took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One said: "Luca saying he doesny want to come to Scotland LMAO thank f**k for that".

"'I ain’t coming to Scotland' Luca we don’t want you," a second wrote.

A third joked: "Eh did they just slander Scotland?? Will the hits stop comin'".

A fourth argued: "Luca - 'we ain’t coming to Scotland' You’d be here in a flash if Gemma came though you wee stalker!"

"'I ain’t coming Scotland though' that’s it Luca i hope Georgia dumps ur greetin face," tweeted a fifth.

A sixth vented: "Did Luca really say he wouldn't come up to Scotland? P***k, we don't want you to visit!"

"Stay away you ignorant little p***k," a seventh echoed.

Another shared: "Well, Luca potentially turned a whole country against him. We didn't want him in Scotland anyway"

"Hate the casual Scotland slander," one disappointed fan said.
