Scotland karate star Niamh Junner delivers masterclass for Lanarkshire Academy youngsters

A group of Airdrie karate kids enjoyed a masterclass with Scotland star Niamh Junner recently as the world bronze medallist delivered a seminar at Lanarkshire Karate Academy.

Junner, who won bronze at the world under-21 championships in 2019 and is WKF Series A silver medallist, dropped in at the club last month.

And youngsters at the Alexander Street base were treated to a fun training session with the elite athlete and a series of drills to show off their skills.

Sensei Chantelle Allan said: “Our LKA junior Kumite squad had a fantastic time training with Niamh, learned lots and had so much fun!.

“Thank you to Niamh for sharing her knowledge, experience and drills with us, which she has picked up from international training camps and competitions .

“Our team are very inspired and can’t wait to take into their competitions.”

Junner commented: “I had so much fun with such a great group of kids.

“They all worked so hard. Thanks so much to the club for having me, I can’t wait to come back soon.”
