Scotland given World Cup warning as bullish Ukraine star insists they will '100 per cent' qualify for Qatar

Ukraine striker Artem Besedin has insisted that not only will they be able to play Scotland in June, but they will also '100 per cent' beat Steve Clarke's side too.

Scotland are due to face the war-torn Ukrainians in June, but there are increasing doubts about whether that World Cup semi-final, play-off will go ahead.

The winners will face Wales in Cardiff in the final and Ukraine will have to somehow prepare for the game, despite having 16 players in their squad based domestically.

However, Dynamo Kyiv star Besedin believes the spirit among their players will see them through.

He said: "We will 100 per cent qualify for the World Cup. Our manager, Oleksandr Petrakov, is constantly in touch with the players in the squad both at home and away.

"He has been great throughout the war. He wants to know what training we have been doing and whether we are in a position to keep ourselves fit.

"It's obviously not going to be a problem for the guys in the squad who are with clubs abroad.

"But listen, I know Ukrainian players and what kind of character we all have. Despite everything that has been put in our way, I know we will find a way of winning both the play-off matches.

"Not only that, but we will do ourselves proud at the World Cup in Qatar."
