School for kids with learning difficulties shuts after multiple coronavirus cases

A school for children with learning difficulties has been forced to close after it confirmed multiple cases of coronavirus.

High Park School in the Heaton area of Bradford, West Yorkshire, has shut after at least two staff members tested positive for the killer virus.

A spokesperson for the school confirmed in a social media post that both the “cleaning and catering teams” were affected.

They added that the school is in “frequent contact with the staff who are affected”.

The statement came after the school said on Thursday that they have had cases of coronavirus in one of  their 'hubs'.

The school, which is listed as a specialist school for pupils with communication and interaction difficulties, said staff and pupils within this hub were isolating for 14 days.

In the most recent statement statement, a spokesperson for the school said: "We regret to tell you that we have had two more staff with confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

"This affects both the Cleaning and Catering Teams and unfortunately we have had to close the school until Monday 6th July.

"We are in frequent contact with the staff who are affected.

"We are in constant contact with Public Health England and they have given us advice and support throughout this situation.

"We will continue to support families throughout this closure through wellbeing calls and please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries or questions."

In a Facebook post on June 25, the school wrote: "Unfortunately we have had cases of Coronavirus in one of our hubs.

"The staff and pupils within this hub are now isolating for 14 days.

"The people affected by the virus are currently recovering. We are following the directives from Public Health England.

"We have discussed our systems with them to ensure they are as safe as possible.

"The school is being chemically deep cleaned.

"Public Health England and the infection control team at Bradford Council are fully supportive of our decision to re-open on Monday 29th June for the other 3 hubs in school."

High Park has now been listed as being closed by Bradford Council.
