'Scared' Melbourne drive-by witness hid

Ikenasio Tuivasa was shot dead while he was standing outside a pool hall with family and friends. (AAP)

The two men who allegedly killed a father-of-five during a drive-by shooting outside a pool hall in west Melbourne covered their faces with jumpers, a court has been told.

Ikenasio Tuivasa was shot dead while he was standing outside the All Star Lounge in Ravenhall with his family and friends just after midnight in January last year.

Hoppers Crossing man Nikola Latuhoi, 26, and Sekomain Vave, 26, of Cairnlea, have been charged with his murder.

Mr Tuivasa's friend, Jordan Taia, said two men with their faces covered pulled up in the All Star Lounge parking lot and started firing shots at their group from about five metres away.

"Someone yelled out 'there's a gun, there's a gun'. I hid for my life - I was s*** scared," Mr Taia told Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

"I had no idea whose car it was or why it was there. From what I did see there was a barrel being held by the person in the passenger seat.

"I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Mr Taia said his group was standing in the parking lot at the time because they had been told the pool hall was at maximum capacity.

A 24-year-old Endeavour Hills man was also shot and seriously injured during the incident.

The hearing continues on Wednesday.
