Scaffolding collapses onto white van outside Asda Bedminster

Shoppers spotted an alarming sight just outside Asda Bedminster today after scaffolding collapsed on top of a white van.

The dramatic incident took place shortly after 1pm earlier this afternoon (December 2) on Regent Road.

Pictures taken by a passerby show the scaffolding resting on top of the van involved, as well as a red car which had its windscreen smashed.

One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, described the aftermath of the collapse to Bristol Live.

She said: "There was a white van under the gateway to get into the back of the gym with scaffolding on top of it.

"The rest of the scaffolding was in the road and caught the red car as it was coming round by Bedminster Family Practice.

"It had a smashed windscreen and police were on the scene after I took a photo."

She added that it didn't look like anyone was injured as a result of the scaffolding coming down.

"The people involved looked more shocked than anything else," she said.

"There were two people in the red car and they were outside of the car and walking about."

Another witness confirmed that police officers were at the scene of the incident.

A spokeswoman for South Western Ambulance Service told Bristol Live that no ambulance crews were called to the scene.
