A savvy Scots student has told how she saved £80 on big brand clothes during lockdown using a secret online shopping hack.
Charlotte Reid, from Glasgow, is a self-confessed bargain-hunter who is "brand bonkers" but hates the expensive price tags - and is always on the lookout for cheap deals.
The 21-year-old fashion student at Glasgow Caledonian University bagged Adidas, Nike, Calvin Klein and UGG clothes by taking advantage of amazing hidden deals by online by retailers.
Charlotte, who is a YouTuber, said: "I’ve grown up with a thrifty outlook on life. My mum taught me to save as much as you can, wherever you can.
"I think my passion for bargain hunting got stronger when I became a student. I almost treat shopping for bargains like a sport, I want to win!"
“Being a fashion student I love big brands, but I hate the price tags, I’m always looking for ways to save on the top brands, whether it’s a student discount or in a flash sale.”
“When Boris announced in December that students wouldn’t be going back to University in January, I knew I’d be spending a lot of time lounging around the house, studying. I set a bit of money aside to buy some comfy loungewear in the January sales.”
The savvy student stumbled across site LovetheSales.com which brings together live online sales from over 1,000 UK retailers, letting you shop over six million deals on one website.
She said: "I searched for ‘cheap loungewear deals’ on Google and the site popped up. I hadn’t heard of it before, but I couldn’t believe all the big brands that were on sale."
“I normally spend ages going through loads of websites looking for bargains, it was great to have all the deals in one place.”
She added: “The grey Calvin Klein bra was my favourite bargain of the lot, they are super trendy and rarely get discounted.
"I normally add it to my basket if I’m online shopping, but always remove it when I get to the checkout because I hate paying full price. I was so happy to bag it for 30% off.”
She added: “I am also in love with my new UGG slippers, they are like putting your feet inside clouds every morning.
"Even though they were just 15% off, I felt like I could really treat myself as I’d saved quite a bit on my other items. UGG slippers hardly ever go on sale, so finding a website that had any discount at all felt like finding a needle in a haystack.”
The shopping addict went on to share some money-saving advice for fellow bargain-hunters who love snapping up deals online.
She said: "A lot of my hacks and tricks I learnt from others at university.
"Always check for 'new customer offers' on a site's homepage and I always search in Google first using search terms like, cheap, discount, bargain, flash sale and outlet, to find the right results.”
