Savvy mum reveals how to make McDonald's breakfast at home for less than £2 a person

A money-saving fan has shared how she makes her own McDonald's breakfast for four people for less than £2 a person.

An former chef and mum managed to make four sausage and cheese or bacon and cheese muffins, with a hash brown and orange juice at home for less than £8.

The same breakfast at McDonald's would have cost her around £16 and taken longer than the 10 minutes it took the mum to make the meal.

She then shared her money-savvy tips on a Facebook group called Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, where the post received over 500 likes and dozen of comments, MirrorOnline reports.

She posted: "We fancied McDonald's breakfast but find it's never filling and can be costly if you want two meals each...so we decided to do our own."

She suggested to her husband that they should buy a pack of hash browns for £1 and 'do our own Maccies, save a lot of money and still have leftovers'.

The DIY McDonald's included flattened pork meatballs to get both the taste and texture of the fast food chain's iconic sausage patties.

The savvy mum claimed her Morrisons-version breakfast is also a healthier option - almost 100 calories less than the McDonald's breakfast deal.

And it seems other mums have made their makeshift McDonald's breakfast as they shared their thrifty ideas in the comments.

One said: "Every Sunday in my house, egg AkMuffin with has browns."

Another shared her tips: "I've been doing this for years...if you break an egg into a cup and put in the microwave for a few seconds it comes out round for the muffins like theirs as well."

One suggested: "Asda do sausage patties for £2.30 for 6."
