The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, praised on Wednesday Saudi Arabia’s ties with Russia in a speech read out at the opening of a summit held in Jeddah.
The statement at The Strategic Vision Group meeting between Russia and the Islamic world noted that Saudi-Russian relations were strong and historical.
King Salman stressed “the importance of this strategic meeting between the Islamic world and the Russian Federation in enhancing regional and international security and stability, intensifying means of dialogue among followers of religions and civilizations, and increasing joint cooperation in combating extremism and terrorism.”
The Strategic Vision Group was established in 2006 after the Russian Federation joined the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as an observer.
