Saudi, Iraqi FMs Discuss Regional Developments

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held talks in Riyadh on Monday with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein.

Discussions tackled regional and international developments and bilateral relations and ways to boost them in all fields.

Hussein is in Saudi Arabia on an official visit.

The ministers also reviewed the outcomes of the meetings of the Saudi-Iraqi coordination committee.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said Hussein was visiting the Kingdom at Prince Faisal’s invitation.

The officials will discuss the importance of adopting mutual efforts to boost regional security and peace, as well as review the impact of regional and international developments on their joint interests, he added.

Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef al-Hajraf also met with Hussein on Monday.

Talks at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh focused on the partnership and cooperation between the council and Baghdad and ways to boost them.

Hajraf stressed that the GCC supports all measures Iraq takes to preserve its sovereignty, security and stability.

He underscored the importance of Iraq preserving its territorial unity, complete sovereignty, Arab identity, social fabric and national unity.
