Saudi Arabia Launches Portal for Registering Agricultural Investments Abroad

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdul Rahman al-Fadley inaugurating the portal (MEWA)

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) launched the Registration of Agricultural Investments Abroad portal to assess the capabilities to develop agricultural and animal sector activities.

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman al-Fadley inaugurated the portal in the presence of the Governor of the Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) Ahmed al-Faris, the Undersecretary for Agriculture Ahmed al-Ayada, and the Director-General of the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF), Munir al-Sahli.

Director-General of the overseas agricultural investment inventory program Mohammad Al-Abdullatif, said the portal would enable investors in farming and livestock sectors to register and form a database for Saudi agrarian investments abroad.

The program extends the Registration of the Agricultural Holdings and Projects in the Kingdom through developing the Agricultural Record.

It falls in line with the Vision 2030 objectives and will develop the economic relations regarding the import and export of agricultural commodities and agricultural investments abroad.

The program will also help achieve food security and boost sustainable local agricultural production and agricultural investment abroad.

The program targets Saudi citizens investing outside the Kingdom and producers who supply the Kingdom, which contributes to diversifying and stabilizing food sources to support the Kingdom’s food security initiatives, and enhance opportunities for agricultural and livestock investments abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with Saudi Embassies to serve Saudi agricultural investors abroad.

The program will boost framework agreements with the target countries and strengthen bilateral relations with other countries.
