Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday that Sunday was the first day of the Hijri month of Dhu al-Hijjah.

The announcement, by the supreme court, means that the Adha holiday will fall on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, or August 21.

The annual Hajj pilgrimage takes place during Dhu al-Hijjah. The Day of Arafah will fall on August 20.
