Saturday Night Takeaway fans left 'in tears' after Stephen Mulhern's announcement

Fans of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway were left heartbroken after the hosts made a sad announcement on Saturday's show.

Stephen Mulhern revealed it was the penultimate episode of the year, with the seventh and final episode airing this Saturday with Mo Gilligan as the special guest announcer.

One viewer tweeted: "Oh don't....my 6 year old just cried... Apparently she is going to ring Ant and Dec every Saturday night as she will miss them....not sure how she is planning on doing that ... They will be lots of tears next weekend".

"Feels like it's only been on 2 weeks," added another, while a third wrote: "I can’t believe that next week is the final one".

"My 6 year old son is gutted that it’s the last Saturday night takeaway next week.....he would very much like to know, why is it not on all year round??" added a fourth.

ITV viewers spotted some bizarre goings on during Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women last week, and many fans predicted the chaos has been caused by I'm A Celebrity Get Outta Me Ear, the prank that sees the Geordie presenters get famous faces to say and do all sorts of things by instructing them via an ear piece.

Suspicions were raised when Lorraine Kelly interviewed KSI and accused him of "mugging" her off with his comments about Bake Off, and openly yawned and swatted away an imaginary fly, reports The Mirror.

The strange moments continued into This Morning as host Holly Willoughby behaved very oddly during a cookery demo.

Later, Loose Women's Judi Love leapt off her seat shouting there was mice in the studio and co-star Jane Moore complained of cramp.

Many pointed the finger straight at Ant and Dec and they were found to be correct to suspect the Geordie duo.

As various newspaper headlines and tweets about the pranks flashed up on the screen behind them, Dec said: "It even made news in France! Lorraine Kelly made news in France. It's been all over the papers and social media".

Ant added: "Now a lot of people were speculating that it might have had something to do with Saturday Night Takeaway.

"We'd like to make it very clear that those people...were absolutely right and all will be revealed later in the show."

It was then revealed that Stephen Mulhern was in the studio with the TV hosts, holding up flashcards with dares and words including "poppycock" and "don't mug me off".

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway concludes on Saturday 3rd April on ITV at 7pm.
