Saturday Kitchen viewers confused by chef's outfit after Queen's death

Saturday Kitchen fans have been left confused by a chef's outfit following the Queen's death.

The programme aired at 10am on BBC Two instead of BBC One due to the channel making way for King Charles' proclamation.

Matt Tebbutt returned to host his cooking show and wore black alongside his guests in respect to the Queen.

However, some viewers were left baffled when chef Adam Byatt wore a dark blue shirt instead of black.

Fans took to Twitter to talk about the fashion faux pas.

One person wrote: "@SaturdayKitchen Adam Byatt in a blue shirt and everyone else in black?"

However, someone replied defending the chef: "Not sure what your point is?"

While another viewer commented: "Adam must have missed the ridiculous wear black memo."

But someone jumped to Adam's defence: "Well done to that one bloke wearing dark blue! Wear what you b****y want - you can show respect in a multitude of ways. F**k the general public!"

Matt introduced the programme by paying a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

He said: "Good morning, along with the rest of the nation all of us here at Saturday Kitchen is mourning the sad loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"Our deepest sympathies and respect go out to His Majesty King Charles III and the whole of the Royal Family at this incredibly difficult time.

"We're going to do our best to bring you a little light relief with 90 minutes of great British food. This is Saturday Kitchen Live."

Many of those appearing on TV over the last few days have opted to wear black in respect to the late Queen.

There has also been a TV schedule shake up where some channels have been broadcasting rolling news about Her Majesty's death instead of their usual programmes.

The BBC and ITV have been broadcasting rolling news but ITV's schedule will start to return to normal on Saturday evening.

The Masked Dancer will air at 6.50pm on Saturday (September 10), followed by The Voice UK at 8pm. Both programmes were recorded before the Queen's death.

There will be no commercials on this day or any advertising running during the royal coverage.

Meanwhile, a BBC spokesperson has confirmed that its schedules will be subject to change during the period of national mourning, which is said to last just under two weeks.

As of Friday, BBC One's usual schedule has been scrapped to make way for the rolling coverage.

Many of the channel's most-loved shows including EastEnders, Doctors, Bargain Hunt , Garden Rescue have been temporarily re-homed on BBC Two.

The shows that were previously set to air on BBC Two have been pulled from the schedule.

Viewers can expect to see this continue over the weekend and into next week.

This weekend, the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror celebrate the life of Her Majesty the Queen with a commemorative special filled with all the key moments from Britain’s longest reigning monarch. Be sure to pick up your copy of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror to get both pullouts.
