Sarah Lancashire's next move after Happy Valley revealed and it should rake in millions

Sarah Lancashire is said to be planning her next move after Happy Valley comes to an end tonight.

The Coronation Street star, 58, plays sergeant Cath Cawood in the BBC drama, which is now in its third series.

Fans have already taken to Twitter saying they will be bereft when the show ends, but wily Sarah has huge plans for her career - which could make her millions.

The actress is said to have set up her own TV production company with her 66-year- old TV executive husband Peter Salmon.

The couple reportedly filed paperwork last month to create Via Pictures to develop their own shows with a TV insider saying: “Happy Valley has gripped the nation over the past few weeks and Sarah is one of the most talented and popular actresses in the country.

“She is going to be in huge demand, but it’s important to remember she has also had a lot of creative say behind the scenes on the plot and the way Happy Valley was filmed."

The source added that Sarah's husband was "one of the most respected and well-liked TV executives in the industry".

They continued: “By setting up a company together they are going to not only be in big demand, but also hugely successful," reports The Sun.

Speaking to the press last month, Happy Valley executive producer Will Johnston said: “Sarah Lancashire, who’s an executive producer on this series, has a very big voice actually in how we conclude Catherine’s story and so she should.

“She’s incredibly meticulous, trusting and interested.”

Happy Valley finally comes to an end on Sunday, almost a decade after its debut BBC in 2014.

Show bosses have filmed five different endings to keep the climax secret as they're reportedly so concerned about the details being leaked - they've taken drastic action to keep things under wraps.

Sally Wainwright's crime drama's finale will be slightly longer than usual on Sunday, with the running time confirmed as one hour and eight minutes rather than the usual 58 minutes - but fans are worried there isn't enough time to wrap everything up.

Fans think Sarah should win a BAFTA for the current series (BBC/Lookout Point/Matt Squire)

The penultimate episode was a nail-biter as Cath went out looking for Tommy Lee Royce following his escape from prison after insisting she is not going to "sit around on my a**e watching f****ing" telly”.

Sarah has been praised for her performance on the show - particularly after that two-hander with Siobhan Finneran - with many fans saying the star deserves a BAFTA.

The Mirror has contacted Sarah's reps for comment on this story.
