Santas arrive at Liverpool's Albert Dock as the countdown begins for the annual Santa Dash 2019

Hoards of Santas gathered at the Royal Albert Dock this morning to mark the 100-day countdown to Liverpool’s renowned Santa Dash.

The BTR Liverpool Santa Dash is considered by many to be the start of the festive season , and now the countdown is on for its return on December 1.

A group of 25 Santas - and a few mini Santas - visited the dock this morning to take a ride on the carousel before taking part in a miniature race to warm up for the big event.

The Santa Dash was first launched in 2004, before expanding to include a 1k Mini Dash and the introduction of blue Santa suits in more recent years.

This year, the BTR Santa Dash 5K starts from Pier Head before heading through the Royal Albert Dock and into the city centre towards the finish line at Liverpool Town Hall.
