Fans have welcomed the arrival of Sammy Ameobi at Nottingham Forest, following confirmation of his arrival on Monday afternoon.
When the Reds’ interest became apparent, there appeared to be a lukewarm reception to news that Martin O’Neill was keen to make the 27-year-old his first signing of the summer, but those concerns appeared to have subsided, if social media is anything to go by.
After penning a one-year deal following his departure from stricken Bolton Wanderers, supporters backed O’Neill’s first piece of business, on the day his charges were put through their paces at Wollaton Park.
Ameobi, a former Newcastle United man who made 91 appearances for the Trotters after making a loan spell permanent, could make his Forest debut in Saturday’s first outing of pre-season at non-league Alfreton Town.
