Sam Quek opens up on 'traumatic' C-section and shares baby girl's adorable name

Sam Quek has revealed her newborn daughter's name as Molly Doris Mairs as her husband touched on her 'traumatic' C-section.

The 32-year-old Olympic star welcomed her baby girl into the world on March 2 after going 11 days overdue, followed by a gruelling 27-hour labour.

The former I'm A Celebrity and MasterChef star, who shares little Molly with her husband Tom Mairs, 35, has been enjoying life as a new mum ever since.

Now, her husband had described her C-section as 'traumatic' and detailed what the athlete went through.

He explained to OK magazine how his wife's strong stomach muscles made it hard to cut out the baby.

Tom said: "We got to 6cm [dilated] at midnight and it went on for hours. The consultant kept coming in and I wasn't moving from 6cm.

"She said, 'Listen, you're absolutely shattered. You've gone through a lot, your waters have been broken for longer than we'd like'."

He added: "They checked her at hour 24 and said, 'You're still at 6cm, what do you want to do?'

"Sam was like, 'It's time to discuss options.' The baby's head was starting to swell."

The new mum recently admitted she felt like a 'failure' after the baby was born as she struggled to be able to breastfeed, due to having a low supply of milk.

The TV star announced her daughter was here at the start of last month, with a gorgeous Instagram photo.

Sam cradled Molly's tiny hand and captioned the snap: "02.03.2021."

Tom and Sam, who married two years ago, shared the exciting news with their fans back in November.

The couple had sadly suffered a miscarriage just months before.

Reflecting back to that painful time, Sam shared: "I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had guilt and shame that it was my fault.

"I was looking back at everything I did during pregnancy and replaying every single minute.

"I put it all on me and my body. But I never said that to Tom at the time."
