Sam Nivola has come out swinging against his (cosmetically enhanced) older peers, slamming actors who get plastic surgery in order to play younger roles.
Nivola — who broke out this year as one-half of a royally fucked up sibling duo in The White Lotus — made the comments during a recent interview with Variety, calling out “old movie stars” who’ve undergone surgery to appear younger for acting gigs.
“The old movie stars are getting plastic surgery, and they’re looking younger and they’re staying young,” Nivola said.
“You have these really old people playing young roles.”

According to Nivola — who is also known for his role in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple — the end result of this Hollywood time-warp is that no roles are left for “the young’uns”.
“It’s not giving any space for the young’uns to move in and make a name for themselves,” the actor said.
Nivola was quick to mention his “respect to those people” who have undergone surgery (no, he didn’t name names), but he nonetheless reminded us that, try as they might, even celebs can’t outrun Father Time.
“With all due respect to those people, one day they won’t be here anymore, literally, and they will have to create new stars,” Nivola said.
The comments come amid Hollywood’s broader reckoning with the increasing visibility of plastic surgery, with a bunch of stars recently being either transparent about their procedures, or denying all the speculation after debuting suspiciously different faces.
Funnily enough, Nivola said in the same Variety interview that his favourite actor is Timothée Chalamet, whose girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, opened up about her breast augmentation back in June.

Jenner is one of multiple celebrities who has revealed their surgeries this year, with Kris Jenner, Kristin Cavallari, and Julia Fox likewise admitting they’d gone under the knife.
Elsewhere in the interview, Nivola reflected on the backlash aimed at his White Lotus character after *that* incest storyline in season three, saying it was “hard when people view your character as a monster or pervert or freak”.
Gee, I wonder what might’ve led them to think that?
