Sam Fender tells Ant & Dec his debut album will never be as good as their first one Psyche

It's a massive week for Sam Fender as the North Shields singer releases his debut album and Ant & Dec have made a bold claim about it.

Sam is a huge fan of the Geordie duo, filming a brilliant reaction to them following him on Twitter earlier this year and then recreating their iconic Byker Grove scene where Ant's character PJ was blinded in a paintball accident.

And they've reciprocated the love with a tweet about which comes out on Friday.

Tweeting from their official account, Dec posted "I’ve got ‘Will We Talk?’ by @samfendermusic playing on repeat at the min.

"Looking forward to the full album on Friday. Reckon it could be the best artist from a Geordie artist since ‘Psyche - The Album," before correcting himself adding "I meant the best ALBUM from a Geordie artist obvs."

Psyche was a platinum seller for Ant & Dec in their PJ & Duncan days when they were one of the hottest pop acts in the UK.

It spawned singles like Eternal Love, If I Give U My Number and of course Let's Get Ready to Rhumble and even led to them being nominated for a Brit Award.

Staying modest, Sam responded to Dec's tweet by saying "Hahaha legends!!! Thank you so much It will never be as good as ‘Psyche’ like! #paintball #healthandsafety #hecantsee #pjandduncan ."

The release of Hypersonic Missiles is the latest in a ever-growing list of highlights for Sam this year which have seen him win a Brit Award, tour all over the world and sell out Mouth of the Tyne in record time.
