Sam Darnold ‘seeing ghosts’ as Jets fail to block blitzing Patriots

The Patriots defense is so scary, Sam Darnold found himself seeing ghosts.

After throwing his second interception of the night against the Patriots, Darnold’s mic caught him saying something no quarterback should say: “I’m seeing ghosts.”

Darnold’s second interception was particularly bad, as he missed Demaryius Thomas deep in Patriots territory while throwing off his back foot. Darnold’s entire first half was horrendous. He only completed six passes for 34 yards, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble as the Jets trailed 24-0 after 30 minutes.

While he’s been far from good, Darnold hasn’t gotten much help from his offensive line, which has allowed the Patriots to blitz freely. That might explain the ghost comparisons.
