Salomon Rondon first words at Everton as deadline day transfer confirmed

Everton have confirmed the signing of Salomon Rondon on a free transfer from Dalian Professional.

The 31-year-old has made the move from the Chinese Super League and put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Goodison Park, with the option of a third year.

The striker has worked with Blues manager Rafa Benitez on a number of occasions, first linking up at Newcastle United before working together at Dalian Professional.

The Venezuela international has also previously played at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Rondón said: “I'm really glad to be back in the Premier League. It’s a competition I enjoyed playing in and where I felt the fans’ support in every game.

“Defending the colours of a club with a history as rich as Everton’s fills me with pride.

"I can’t wait to pull on the shirt and be reunited with Rafa Benítez, a coach who has changed the way I understand the game. I’m really grateful for the faith he’s shown in me.”

The striker will now provide back-up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the coming 2021/22 season after the departure of Moise Kean on loan to Juventus earlier on transfer deadline day.
