Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s is celebrating its 150 anniversary and to celebrate the chain is offering customers 150 bonus Nectar points on every shop over £1.
The retailer anticipates over one billion reward points will be dished out to loyal shoppers over the forthcoming birthday weekend, which will kick off from 24 May until bank holiday Monday (27 May).
The long weekend gives customers plenty of time to top up their points, whether they are shopping in store for a few items or buying their weekly groceries online.
The additional points are available on all purchases made in all Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, online at sainsburys.co.uk and also on any fuel bought from the retailer's petrol stations across the late May bank holiday weekend.
All customers need to do to redeem the points is swipe a valid reward card, or enter card details if shopping online, and make a qualifying spend of £1 or more.
It's worth noting Sainsbury's have capped the offer so customers can only earn extra points on three transactions each day the deal is running, allowing shoppers to earn up to an additional 450 points a day simply by spending £3.
The chain is also running a number of other special birthday promotions over the long weekend for shoppers including money off fuel .
Speaking about what the retailer has in store for its customers, Mark Given, Director of Marketing at Sainsbury’s said: “We're really excited to celebrate our 150 birthday with customers this week and wanted to give them their very own birthday treat.
"We’ve been helping our customers live well for less for the past 150 years and what better way to celebrate than to provide an extra boost to shoppers’ Nectar point balances during the bank holiday weekend and enable them to save money when they fill up.”
The latest fuel deal is similar to the one the chain launched earlier this month to coincide with the early May Day bank holiday weekend , when Sainsbury's went head-to-head with Morrisons to offer the best savings for motorists.
In store and online shoppers can also pick up some great seasonal savings on food and groceries over the long weekend too, with 25% off wines and champagne when you buy six or more bottles and price cuts on selected baby and toddler food essentials and toiletries .
