Sainsbury's launch 25% off wines and prosecco as Tesco and M&S launch rival deals

Sainsbury's is slashing the price of selected wines, prosecco and champagne - just in time for the long bank holiday weekend.

The retailer is giving shoppers 25% off wines when buying six bottles as part of the chain's 150th birthday celebrations.

Customers can mix and match bottles of red, white and prosecco varieties in the special promotion which is running from 23rd to 2 June in stores and online at sainsburys.co.uk.

The well-timed offer also includes wines that are already on promotion, meaning shoppers can maximise their savings.

Anyone hosting a party or celebrating something special can pick up the chain's Taste the Difference Conegliano Prosecco which has been reduced to £7.50 (was £10) in the deal, meaning six bottles works out at a budget busting £5.63 a bottle. Bargain.

But if you're not a Sainsbury's shopper, rival Tesco are also running the same deal which is running until bank holiday Monday (27 May).

The Tesco deal features a range of tipples including premium champagnes from Tattinger, Veuve Clicquot and Moet & Chandon.

M&S are also cutting the price of wines, slashing a third off selected varieties when buying cases of six in stores and online at marksandspencer.com. The popular high street chain also has a number of wines that are £6 or less a bottle. Both promotions are also on until bank holiday Monday.

Sainsbury's kicked of its birthday celebrations yesterday with a special visit from the Queen to a pop up replica of the original Dury Lane store that has been created in Covent Garden in central London.

The Monarch was hosted by Lord and Lady Sainsbury and given a demonstration of the self-service style tills.

The chain also launched a string of promotions for customers too, giving motorists bought this weekend and 150 extra Nectar points on any shops over £1.
