Sainsbury's enforce 'one adult at a time' policy in stores under Tier 3 lockdowns

Sainsbury's supermarkets are only letting "one adult at a time" into their stores across Leicester and Leicestershire.

The supermarket giant made the announcement due to the new three-tier lockdowns brought in and has added that all shops across the UK are subject to change.

The change has been brought in to keep shoppers safe when visiting the stores and to keep queues down.

The supermarket is asking that people come alone to go shopping but have added that children are able to visit with one parent if they're unable to stay at home.

As well as the larger stores Sainsbury's 'locals' will be affected too.

Sainsbury's told shoppers: "We are asking everyone to only send one adult per household to our shops.

"This helps us keep people a safe distance apart and also helps to reduce queues to get into stores."

The statement from the chain adds: "Our store teams will be asking groups with more than one adult to choose one adult to shop and will ask other adults to wait.

"Children are welcome if they are not able to stay at home."

Sainsbury's said it will also be limiting the number of customers allowed in its stores at one time and has also reduced the number of checkouts in supermarkets too.
