Sainsbury's and Asda: 'Do not eat' warning for soup sold at supermarkets

Sainsbury's, Asda and Tesco have issued a number of product recalls. Customers have been told not to eat the items but return them to stores for a refund.

Receipts are not needed to get a refund. When products are recalled, the Food Safety Agency (FSA) shares what customers should do if they've bought the items, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Asda and Sainsbury's

A soup, sold at Sainsbury's and Asda, has been recalled amid allergy fears. Itsu (grocery) is recalling chilled Itsu Noodle Soup Veg Gyoza and Greens because some packs have been mispacked with a prawn gyoza that contains crustaceans, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans.

Product details

Itsu Noodle Soup Veg Gyoza and Greens

  • Pack size: 230 g
  • Use-by dates: all dates up to and including 15 October 2022
  • Allergen: crustaceans

Itsu has also issued a recall notice to its customers, which explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product.

Sainsbury's said: "Please do not consume this product with these use by dates if you have an allergy or intolerance to crustaceans or are vegetarian/vegan. If you have bought the above-mentioned product, we advise you not to open it. For a full refund send a picture of the use by date on the packaging."

Other barcodes or other itsu products are not affected by this recall and itsu apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to crustaceans, do not eat it. Instead, send a picture of the use by date on the packaging to customerservices@itsugrocery.com for a full refund, or if preferred, contact Itsu (grocery) on 0333 224 9510.
