Sadio Mane transfer: Details of second Bayern Munich bid in search for Liverpool agreement

Bayern Munich have had their opening bid to sign Sadio Mane knocked back - but have reportedly already put together their second bid.

The Senegal international has been linked with a move away from Liverpool after six years at the club and has previously hinted his long-term future could lie outside of Anfield. He has one year left on his current deal at the Reds and it is looking unlikely he will sign a new contract.

A transfer elsewhere would make the most sense for Mane with Bayern Munich the most interested party. Bild have reported that the first offer from the Bavarians was around £21.3million, but Liverpool will push for a higher fee.

With that in mind, Bayern are already planning a second, improved offer having been aware their initial bid was likely to be knocked back, according to Sport 1. They claim that the first bid was around £21million up front with another £4million in bonuses to make a £25million total package. However, their second bid is said to be a fixed £30million fee with £4.2million in potential bonuses.

It is claimed that, despite the initial rejection, both parties expect an agreement to be reached and there are high hopes from Bayern that their second bid will satisfy Liverpool's demands.

Earlier this week, Mane suggested he will follow the wishes of his nation's fans by leaving the Reds. This would end a sparkling six-year stint on Merseyside during which he scored 120 goals in 269 matches. However, he later insisted he was "joking" with those comments and maintains full respect for Liverpool.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer discussed his side's potential swoop, telling German outlet BILD : "If we really want a player, we are able to get him. But he has to suit us."

Real Madrid and Juventus are also said to be interested in a move for Mane but his preferred destination is Germany with Bayern the likely destination. With Robert Lewandowski set to depart the club for Barcelona in the summer transfer window and Serge Gnabry linked with a switch away, Mane would bolster their forward line and add some extra firepower up front.

Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala and Erik Maxim Chupo-Moting are currently Bayern's other first-team forwards. Mane can play on either flank and through the middle, giving Julien Nagelsman another selection headache with so many other versatile players in the squad.

Bayern lifted the Bundesliga title last season but were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Villarreal. They lost 2-1 on aggregate and will be hoping to improve on that feat next term.
