Sacrilege case: Handwriting report in court

BATHINDA: The handwriting report of Dera Sacha Sauda follower Sukhjinder Singh @Sunny was handed over to the trial court in a sealed cover on Thursday. The handwriting sample, obtained nearly three months ago by special investigations team, was to be matched with derogatory posters at Bargari and Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on September 25, 2015.

The report from Forensic Science Laboratory was submitted in the court of Faridkot JMIC Tarjini, who posted the matter for October 27, when the report is likely to be opened.

On July 19, 2019, a bench of the Punjab and Haryana high court had dismissed a petition by Sukhjinder Sunny against comparison of handwriting with posters at Bargari. Later, SIT had obtained the handwriting samples for comparison and sent them for testing. Earlier, Sunny had challenged the Faridkot court order of June 8, 2021, dismissing his application for objecting to the comparison of handwriting samples.

A SIT member confirmed of submitting handwriting report of Sunny in the court.
