Sacked ex Coronation Street star Bruno Langley has released a single

Sacked former Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley announced that he had released a single as his character made a dramatic comeback to the soap.

As The Archers and Ordinary Lies star Gareth Pierce arrived on the famous cobbles as Todd, Bruno announced that he had released a song called Collide.

The 37-year-old made the announcement on Instagram on Friday, the day Gareth, 39, made his Corrie debut as the character he had played on and off for 16 years.

"I hope everyone is doing ok," he wrote.

"It’s been a while since I released any work, so here it is. "Stream ‘Collide’ on #applemusic #spotify #googleplay #amazon very cool artwork by @bizhallas check out her work she is amazing! #newmusicfriday #newmusic #collide #pop #popmusic #cinematicpop #letsgo #art #collide #new."

The announcement was shared by Ryan Thomas, who played his older brother Jason in the show.

And his partner Lucy France told him: "So proud."

Todd's return to Weatherfield had been eagerly-awaited by viewers in a storyline of twists and turns which left his mum Eileen fearing that he was dead.

The seeds were sewn for his return this summer when a letter arrived in the post from the ex solicitor asking for money.

This week police told his horrified mum, who had been away in Thailand visiting Jason, they had found a body that they believed to be Todd's.

But when she found a note asking her to meet him at an old warehouse, he asked Eileen to go and identify the dead body as him.

The long-standing character was written out of Corrie in December 2017 after Bruno was convicted of sexually assaulting two women in a Manchester bar.

Bruno previously released an EP featuring musical backing from members of his family in 2016.

And in February 2017 he sang for patients and staff at The Christie.

The last time viewers saw the character Todd was when he fled Weatherfield with Billy’s goddaughter Summer Spellman.

He went on the run after her grandmother Geraldine attempted to gain custody of the girl.

When they were tracked down by the police, Todd assaulted a police officer and ran off on his own, and Summer returned to Weatherfield on her own.

Newcomer Gareth Pierce previously said about joining the soap: “I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show, and to have been entrusted with taking Todd forward into some really exciting storylines.

“It’s an honour to be part of the dedicated Coronation Street team in such unprecedented times.”
