Ben Watson and Samba Sow could both be in line for a return to the Nottingham Forest side when Huddersfield visit the City Ground next Sunday, while there are no major concerns over goalkeeper Brice Samba.
Both Sow and Watson missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, but head coach Sabri Lamouchi hopes the influential pair will benefit from an extra week to recover from their respective problems.
Watson is understood to have picked up an ankle problem in the recent friendly win at Wolves, while Sow continues to manage his troublesome knee, despite suggestions earlier in the week that they could have been available, Lamouchi instead opting not to take any unnecessary risks.
“Because we have a lot of games to play, we don’t want to take a risk," Lamouchi said of their absence.
“They will be ready for the next one, for sure."
There were concerns throughout the second period at Hillsborough with goalkeeper Samba seemingly struggling, resulting in defensive pair Joe Worrall and Tobias Figueiredo taking some goal-kicks.
That was nothing more than a precaution, Lamouchi says, with the Reds number one just feeling a slight niggle after three months without competitive football.
“After three months (without playing), he felt something in his left leg and he didn’t want to take a risk," the Frenchman said.
"So we asked Tobias and Joe Worrall to take the kicks."
