The Welsh language broadcaster, S4C, has announced it will continue its coverage of the Welsh national football team from 2022 to 2024.
The television channel has secured exclusive UK free-to-air broadcast rights to show Wales games in Welsh, with pay channel Premier Sports showing the Nations League and Euro 2024 qualifiers in English.
This comes after it was announced in April that Nordic-based streaming service Viaplay had won exclusive rights to show Wales matches in the future. The shake-up will mean that Viaplay will show European qualifiers for Euro 2028 and World Cup 2026 from 2024, along with UEFA Nations League and friendly matches.

However, following an agreement with UEFA, S4C has secured broadcasting rights over the Welsh national football team's upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, as well as the European Qualifiers campaign for UEFA Euro in 2024. Wales is set to have a run of qualifiers for Euro 2024 starting next year, as well as UEFA Nations League matches throughout 2022.
This means that the agreement covers Wales matches over two years, starting on Wednesday, June 1, with the UEFA Nations League game away against Poland. Games can be watched live in the Welsh language on the channel's football program, Sgorio Rhyngwladol.
According to the channel's Chief Executive, Sian Doyle, the announcement is "fantastic news" for both Welsh football supporters and the Welsh language.
Following the announcement, she said: "We are thrilled that S4C will be the exclusive free-to-air home of the Wales men’s national football team, and we believe that this is fantastic news for Welsh football supporters and the Welsh language.
"This is a golden age for the Welsh national team and for the continued growth and development of the game it is key that supporters can enjoy their matches on free-to-air television."
