S Club 7 release statement on Paul Cattermole's death as group 'devastated'

S Club 7 are devastated and in 'disbelief' at the death of band member Paul Cattermole, at the age of 46.

There was widespread shock amongst others in the music industry and fans alike when news broke of Paul's death on Friday afternoon, with it being reported that he was found dead at home and with 'no suspicious circumstances.'

As people rushed to pay their respects to the singer, S Club 7 released a statement which read: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have."

They added: "He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

Paul's death comes just weeks after tickets for S Club 7's highly anticipated reunion tour went on sale, with extra dates having to be added due to the huge demand for tickets.

The group announced plans to play to crowds at arenas across the country to mark 25 years since their formation. Having earned plenty of fans for their CBBC show Miami 7, the group went straight in at number 1 with their debut single Bring it All Back, following that up with more hits from their first album, including S Club Party and Two in a Million.

After they also hit number 1 with Never Had A Dream Come True, Don't Stop Movin' and Have You Ever, Paul left the band, but was back for their first reunion tour in the summer of 2015.
