Rylan Clark responds to The Last Leg viewers' calls after foul-mouthed appearance on Channel 4 show

Rylan Clark appears to have read fans' mind way before his latest TV appearance on The Last Leg. The TV star appeared as a guest on the Channel 4 show on Friday night (July 29) alongside Labour MP Jess Phillips

And it wasn't long before talk turned to the Tory leadership race with hosts Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker. Rylan, 33, was asked about Nadine Dorries hitting out at Rishi Sunak for wearing a £3,500 suit and Prada loafers while, she claimed, Liz Truss wore earrings from Claire's Accessories.

Rylan said: “One, who has been in Claire’s Accessories since they were 12, for a start? And second of all, I don’t care if you’re wearing a 200 grand suit, as long as you’re running the country right, I don’t care what’s on your feet and what’s on your back at the end of the day. Primark or Prada, I don’t care.

"I don’t think it really matters, and I’m not gonna start any beef with Nadine Dorries at all – I tweeted something about Edwina Currie and that was an exciting morning, let me tell you..."

And it's fair to say the BBC Radio 2 host didn't hold back and soon entered into a sweary tirade. He said: "I just don't think it matters, Jess. I don't care what you're wearing, just run the country right, look after the people of this country and stop being a f***ing a***hole."

His honest answer was met with a standing ovation from the studio audience with Adam joking: "So glad you’re being careful about what you’re saying." And the political talk didn't stop there.

At one point Jess Phillips, remarked: “Rylan for prime minister!" and Rylan continued by telling those watching that his first promise if he became PM in the UK, would be to give everyone free veneers. But Last Leg viewers were completely on board.

@monsterofcoffee tweeted: "RYLAN FOR PM #thelastleg #isitok." @MillieSansoye commented: "Rylan saying what literally everyone in the country is thinking. Maybe Rylan should be PM #TheLastLeg." @rahim94 shared; "Rylan would do a better job as PM to be fair #TheLastLeg," to which @HJMovingFarAway replied: "He's on fire tonight."

And the praise kept coming. @MillieSansoye said: "'I don’t care what you’re wearing, run the country, stop being a f*****g a*****le!’ I didn’t think I could love Rylan more than I already did but here I am! #TheLastLeg." @MattMonFC wrote: "#IsItOk that @Rylan speaks for the the whole country. What a legend. End of. #TheLastLeg." @sbrownstortford shared: "I have a new found respect for #rylan #TheLastLeg."

But it turns out Rylan may have already had running the country in mind as he took to Twitter to share a sneak peek at his upcoming book, Ten, which marks his decade in the showbiz industry since appearing on The X Factor and winning Celebrity Big Brother. He tweeted: "A sneak peak at #RylanTen…. @TheLastLeg read my mind….. chapter 19….."

The picture showed the page of the book which said: "19 Rylan for PM. You never thought I'd last this long... Just wait til I'm running the country..." Rylan has regularly shared his take on politics on social media. He has also previously hit back at “snobby-a***d” critics of his political commentary explaining why he feels "no pressure to fit in a box others want to put (him) in" and why people have been wrong to dismiss him thanks to him helping inform his younger audience.
