Ryanair has £17 flights to Legoland Denmark during the school holidays

Brick fans can make the pilgrimage to the first Legoland for just £15.

Budget airline Ryanair is offering super cheap flights to Billund in Denmark the destination airport for fun lovers travelling to the original construction theme park.

Ticket prices start from just £15 for a one-way fare, meaning parents could be booking a term-time trip to the brick-building mecca for less than the price of a lunch out, Manchester Evening News reported.

On some dates in both July and August the airline is offering seats starting from £17, which seems like a great price given its in the summer holidays.

The bargain price tickets depart directly from Manchester Airport once a day, with the short hour-and-a-half flight landing at Billund Airport - just five minutes away from the entrance of the Legoland resort.

There is a free shuttle bus from the Airport, and tickets for the attraction can be booked in advance via the theme park's website. Day passes start from around £38 and there are two-day passes and multi-site passes also available.

The Danish theme park has a reputation of having shorter queues than Legoland Windsor and is generally regarded as being less commercial than its UK counterpart.

Once in the area visitors can also pay a visit to the Lego House, a 12,000-square metre building filled with 25 million Lego bricks that is known as the home of the little plastic blocks.

In the park itself there is something for Lego lovers of all ages including the Lego Movie World, DUPLO Land, Knights Kingdom, LEGOREDO Town, NINJAGO World and the iconic Miniland.

The theme park is also home to a wealth of wild rides and watery fun with the rollercoasters of Adventure Land and Polar Land and the excitement of the land-lover's favourite, Pirate Land.

Bagging cheap flights also feels like a big win, but finding somewhere to stay on a budget can be a little more challenging.

The town of Billund is relatively small but offers a good selection of hotels, guesthouses and B and B's, all of which are within just a few miles of the park entrance.

Guests can stay at the onsite official Legoland Hotel with its giant-size characters and themed rooms, although rooms are a little pricey, starting as they do from £293 a night.

Billund-BnB ApS is four miles away from the entrance to the park and offers double rooms with a shared bathroom for £108 per night.

Three miles from the centre of town is the Øst Trøgelborg Farm Holiday site, which has horses, llamas and ostriches, as well as a campfire, trampoline and a teepee. Family studios that sleep four start from around £173 per night.

Lego-fans were dealt a major blow earlier this year when it was announced that plans for a huge new theme park had been scrapped.

A new version of the colourfully themed resort was due to be constructed just across the Channel in Belgium, near Charleroi Airport, but it was ditched in March.
