Ryan Sessegnon transfer chase as Celtic 'hot on the trail' of £25m Tottenham left-back

Celtic have stepped up their chase to land out of favour Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon - according to a report.

The Premiership champions were one of a clutch of clubs linked with the £25m defender earlier this summer and now appear ready to strike.

The Daily Mail state Celtic are ready to do battle with several Premier League big-hitters in a bid to convince the 20-year-old that Parkhead is the perfect place to reignite his career.

Sessegnon became a regular with Fulham as a teenager and a host of clubs across Europe were monitoring his situation.

But his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium didn't go to plan and he made only 12 appearances in all competitions.

Sessegnon has been pushed further down the pecking order after the arrival of Sergio Reguilón from Real Madrid.

Leeds, Brighton and Southampton are also in the mix but it's understood Celtic are keen to make a push to land a player who can operate in both defence and attack.

Neil Lennon has made no secret of his desire to land a new left-back to provide competition for Greg Taylor before the window closes on Monday.

Record Sport revealed both Alfie Doughty and Casper Hojer are alternative options but England U21 international Sessegnon also fits the bill.
